south surrey badminton-society raises $12000 in local tournament

With 245 players participating in 24 events across the six age groups and around 450 matches in three days, the first badminton tournament held by the South Surrey Badminton Society at Grandview Heights Secondary School became the largest badminton tournament in Surrey’s history. This event raised a total of $12,168 for the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation Medical Imaging Campaign, which will make a great impact on our community. We extend our gratitude to all generous support of sponsors, volunteers, players, their families, and friends!

“We feel that the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation is a pillar of our community, and we are so happy to be able to fundraise for such a good cause to support patients and their families”

MAGGIE LAI, PRESIDENT AND CO-FOUNDER OF SOUTH SURREY BADMINTON SOCIETY

“As we formed our South Surrey Badminton Society, we decided that we not only want to promote our love for the sport of badminton, but we also want to give back to our local community. The backbone of our Badminton Society is a group of Semiahmoo Secondary badminton players, and I cannot be more proud of what they have learned and achieved through this fundraiser badminton tournament,” says Maggie Lai.
