Peace Arch Hospital Foundation Projects: IMAGINE: A Campaign for Medical Imaging

IMAGINE: A Campaign for Medical Imaging

We imagine large improvements for patients and medical staff at Peace Arch Hospital, including major upgrades for our Medical Imaging Department. We need your help to turn our vision into reality!

When Peace Arch Hospital was built in the 1950's, conventional medical imaging has reached a remarkable degree of sophistication for its time. Images were thought to have high resolution and were very useful for diagnosis. This is no comparison to what would later be developed in the ensuing decades.

Medical Imaging techniques and technologies have improved immensely since Peace Arch Hospital first opened its doors... And our community has grown immensely, too.

Working in partnership with Fraser Health, we’ve identified five immediate priorities to support the medical imaging needs of our rapidly growing community.

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Digital X-Ray
  • Fluoroscopy Machine
  • Gamma Camera
  • 3 New Ultrasound Machines

of $10M goal reached.

"Advancements in medical imaging over the years have revolutionized so many facets of patient care, from screening, diagnosis, and surveillance, to offering minimally-invasive procedures. The opportunity to improve access to state-of-the-art imaging technology and infrastructure at Peace Arch Hospital will allow us to push the envelope in providing rapid and accurate diagnosis for our patients and community -- the future is exciting!"

About the Equipment

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

The MRI machine provides a non-invasive way for your doctor to examine your organs, tissues and skeletal system. It produces high-resolution images of the inside of the body that help diagnose a variety of problems. MRI is the most frequently used imaging test of the brain and spinal cord, and is often used to help diagnose tumors, aneurysms, brain or spinal cord injuries, strokes, and more.
