Peace Arch Hospital Foundation Projects: IMAGINE: A Campaign for Medical Imaging

IMAGINE: A Campaign for Medical Imaging

We imagined major upgrades to our Medical Imaging Department, and our vision has come to life! We are excited to announce we have met our goal thanks to the incredible support of our generous community.

When Peace Arch Hospital was built in the 1950's, conventional medical imaging has reached a remarkable degree of sophistication for its time. Images were thought to have high resolution and were very useful for diagnosis. This is no comparison to what would later be developed in the ensuing decades.

Medical Imaging techniques and technologies have improved immensely since Peace Arch Hospital first opened its doors... And our community has grown immensely, too.

WE IMAGINE… STATE-OF-THE-ART EQUIPMENT

Working in partnership with Fraser Health, we’ve identified five immediate priorities to support the medical imaging needs of our rapidly growing community. We will continue to keep you updated as these equipment pieces arrive!

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Digital X-Ray
  • Fluoroscopy Machine
  • Gamma Camera
  • 3 New Ultrasound Machines

About the Equipment

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
FEATURE EQUIPMENT

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

The MRI machine provides a non-invasive way for your doctor to examine your organs, tissues and skeletal system. It produces high-resolution images of the inside of the body that help diagnose a variety of problems. MRI is the most frequently used imaging test of the brain and spinal cord, and is often used to help diagnose tumors, aneurysms, brain or spinal cord injuries, strokes, and more.
