Surrey and White Rock Firefighters band together to make $35,000 donation to mental health care

WHITE ROCK, B.C. – The Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society and White Rock Firefighters Charity Association have come together, once again, in support of Peace Arch Hospital with a $35,000 gift to support mental health.
Inspired by donor Manjit Lit’s $100,000 matching gift, the firefighters are the leading matching donors, pushing the funds raised to support mental health care at Peace Arch Hospital to more than $200,000 so far.
“Our local firefighters support the community both in their work and with their philanthropy. Their generosity and commitment to both White Rock and Surrey is extraordinary. We are so grateful for everything they do.”
Stephanie Beck, Executive Director, Peace Arch Hospital Foundation
Mental health has been at the forefront of the firefighters’ philanthropy as they witness their colleagues often struggle with the mental and emotional demands of the job. Their previous joint gift of a staggering $500,000 supported a new Mental Health Care and Substance Abuse Zone which will open in summer 2022 and will be located within Peace Arch Hospital’s new ER
