White Rock, B.C. – Youth in Action members hosted another meaningful Walk the Rock event this past weekend! Now in its fifth year, Walk the Rock, presented by Jeremy Reedman of CIBC Wood Gundy, brought the community together on Sunday, June 7 at White Rock Beach for a day of fun in the sun, all in support of Peace Arch Hospital (PAH).

This funfair celebration was a true kick off to summer! This year, participants enjoyed a free oceanside yoga class on White Rock Beach’s iconic pier. Presented by Live Yoga, this class brought community members together through movement. After that, community members gathered at Memorial Park where the celebration continued all afternoon long. Activities included a bouncy castle, face painting, a sweets station, balloon animals, a make-your-own-jewelry station, henna, a prize wheel raffle, make-your-own-flower arrangement station, and more! Tacofino White Rock and Pop Culture Dirty Soda were also on site with their food trucks, generously donating 10% of their net earnings from the day to PAH.

This year’s event was proudly sponsored by Jeremy Reedman of CIBC Wood Gundy, whose support helped bring the event to life. Thanks to the support of each community member, Walk the Rock raised more than $20,000 for critical and cardiac care at Peace Arch Hospital – a record-breaking amount for this event! 100% of proceeds support our Every Second Counts campaign, which will help fund an integrated, state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Cardiac Monitoring Unit at Peace Arch Hospital. This project will vastly improve the critical and cardiac care experience for patients and their families, giving them the privacy and dignity they deserve during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.

The entirety of Walk the Rock is run by our Foundation’s Youth in Action program! This program is designed for grades 10-12 students in our community who want to make a difference and get hands-on volunteer experience. One of their many activities is learning how to organize, plan, and execute Walk the Rock, which proved to be a tremendous success.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, and supported Walk the Rock. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
