White Rock, B.C. – Monthly giving is a simple yet powerful way to support care close to home. For long-time Peace Arch Hospital + Community Health Foundation (PAHCHF) supporter Susan Mueller, it’s also a meaningful way to give back to a place that has played a vital role throughout her life.

Susan’s connection to Peace Arch Hospital runs deep. Both of her parents were patients at the hospital, as well as her husband, all of whom received exceptional care. After being hit by a truck at a crosswalk, Susan herself spent plenty of time at the hospital receiving surgery and physiotherapy. Through these experiences, she’s seen firsthand how important it is to have a strong, well-supported hospital in the community.

“I’m not alone in feeling a very close connection with Peace Arch Hospital, so I feel a great responsibility and satisfaction seeing it improve with each addition and upgrade, knowing that I played a part in achieving this through private donations,” Susan says.

Her personal connection helped inspire Susan to become a monthly donor, a giving approach she finds both practical and impactful.

“It makes sense to give monthly because it’s kind of like a savings account,” Susan explains. “It’s easy to do because your monthly donations are automatic, and you know your contributions have been made each month.”

Monthly giving also offers benefits beyond convenience, allowing individuals to support their hospital in a way that works for their own financial planning.

“There is also a tax benefit for charitable giving,” Susan says. “By giving a bit each month, it’s an advantage to you and to our hospital.”

Susan’s story is a powerful reminder that monthly giving is more than donations. It’s about showing up, month after month, for a place that shows up for all of us when we need it most.

“It’s so important for all of us who live in our community to have a dedication to our hospital,” Susan says. “We’re so fortunate to have it in the area, and it’s our responsibility to keep it running as best as we can. It’s up to us to see that Peace Arch Hospital continues to thrive and continues to be able to serve our community from infancy to our elder years.”
