Peace Arch Hospital Foundation Projects: Help us fund vital surgical equipment

Help us fund vital surgical equipment

As an orthopaedic surgeon pioneering Peace Arch Hospital’s hip and knee replacement same-day discharge program, Dr. Vic Bubbar knows that having state-of-the-art equipment is essential in providing the best possible care for the patients he operates on. Consistent maintenance and repair are standard for all surgical equipment, and investing in the latest technology helps our surgeons work more efficiently and accurately. It even helps us recruit new talented surgeons, nurses, and care staff!

Peace Arch Hospital Foundation invests about $2 million per year in ensuring the hospital has the most up-to-date, modern, and vital pieces of equipment to best serve our community members when they need care. We are asking for your generous support to fund much-needed equipment for surgeons like Dr. Bubbar and his team.

Your support is crucial. Will you join us in upgrading and replacing surgical equipment for Peace Arch Hospital? Your gift will make a lasting impact not only for the hospital, but also for the community we serve. Thank you for your generosity!

Some of our most urgently needed equipment

Endoscope Resectoscope

A resectoscope is a medical instrument used primarily in urology and gynecology for minimally invasive surgeries. It is commonly used to remove tissue or perform procedures in the bladder, prostate, or uterus. Doctors can view the area via a camera and remove any abnormal tissue with precision. This piece helps avoid large incisions, reduces recovery time, and minimizes complications.

Handpiece Drill

A handpiece is a surgical tool used to drill, cut, or shape bone during various procedures, especially in orthopedic (such as joint replacements or fracture repairs) or neurosurgery (for skull or spine procedures). The drill is powered and provides precision, allowing surgeons to make accurate bone cuts or insert screws and implants. This tool helps surgical efficiency and patient recovery because it promotes minimally invasive surgery.

Mammetome Neoprobe

The Mammotome Neoprobe is a specialized probe used in the operating room for breast cancer procedures. It combines a biopsy system with radioactive tracers to locate and remove abnormal tissue or lymph nodes in real-time. The probe helps guide the surgeon to precise areas, allowing for minimally invasive biopsies and/or tumour removal. This probe improves accuracy, reduces tissue damage, and promotes quicker recovery.

OR Table

An OR table (operating room table) is a specialized, adjustable table used during surgeries to position and support patients for optimal access to surgical sites. With many adjustments available, including height, tilt, and angle, this table ensures comfort and stability during various procedures. This enhances surgical accuracy and patient safety while reducing the strain on both the patient and surgical team.

Please help us bring new state-of-the-art surgical equipment to Peace Arch Hospital — your donation will bring us closer to providing innovative techniques and procedures for our patients and community members.
