Peace Arch Hospital Foundation Projects: ER Campaign – It’s Our Emergency

ER Campaign – It’s Our Emergency

It's Our Emergency.

The ER Campaign renovation and expansion is now fully funded and will open in early 2022! Thank you to our incredible community of supporters!

Treating 50,000 patients a year in an ER originally built to accommodate 20,000 can be challenging to say the least. As the community of South Surrey/White Rock continues to expand (in the past 20 years, the population has increased by 55 per cent!), the space at Peace Arch Hospital will be stretched even further to meet the demand.

The new emergency department will be nearly three times the size of the current facility with a private triage area, dedicated ambulance entrance, significantly more treatment areas including specific pediatric and mental health spaces, isolation rooms and an improved layout and space configuration.

of $15M goal reached.

“The numbers are getting way too high for the set up of this department. Within the Fraser Health Authority, the ER at Peace Arch Hospital sees the most patients per hour per physician. We do the best we can, but it’s hard to do our best work in these physical conditions … there’s just nowhere to go.”
Dr. Jerrod Hendry, Emergency Room Physician, Peace Arch Hospital
