On March 20, 2020, B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer ordered all eating establishments across the province to stop providing dine-in services. In order to comply, all hospital/direct service outlets on Peace Arch Hospital’s campus and surrounding service area have been closed to the public, including staff. This has left many staff with little-to-no dining options as they work long hours to support Peace Arch Hospital’s COVID-19 response.

With our new COVID-19 Emergency Fund, Peace Arch Hospital Foundation is proud to supply Peace Arch Hospital with the funds necessary to provide our healthcare workers with immediate sustenance and other comforts like food, hotel and respite stays. Most recently, we have been able to collaborate with our community to purchase delivery meal options at competitive rates to fuel our hospital’s front-line workers.

This innovative program – which began on Saturday, April 4 – supports Peace Arch Hospital staff as well as our local business community who may not be able to draw on traditional revenue streams during these times of uncertainty. We are so grateful to the South Surrey and White Rock Chamber of Commerce for their support in connecting us with these local businesses. “We felt it was important to create a program in our community that would support the hardworking front line hospital staff, while at the same time supporting our local restaurants and cafes because we know their businesses have been hit really hard due to COVID-19. We appreciate the collaboration with the Foundation”, said Ritu Khanna, Executive Director of the Chamber.

Local establishments currently participating in the program include Kin Thai Restaurant, Chutney’s Indian Grill, 3 Dogs Brewing, Sheila’s Catering, Chef Adrian Beaty, The Modern General, White Spot, Sapporo Kitchen, and Cobb’s Bread (Southpoint Annex and Semiahmoo Mall). As our partners, they will provide anywhere from 50-150 meals for either morning, afternoon or evening meal times. Drop-offs will take place throughout the day, seven days per week, to provide meals to as many healthcare workers as possible.
