Bringing generations together at Generations Playground, an all-ages, all-abilities playground in White Rock, BC

WHITE ROCK, B.C. – Generations Playground, the brand new all abilities and all ages playground built next to Centennial Arena in White Rock held its official grand opening on Saturday, September 1. A collaboration between Peace Arch Hospital Foundation and the City of White Rock, the playground is the first of its kind in this community.

“This playground has been in the works for a while and we are so thrilled to see it finally opened. This is the first project of our Healthiest Community Possible initiative and we can’t wait for the entire community to start enjoying this spectacular outdoor green space.”

Stephanie Beck, Executive Director, Peace Arch Hospital Foundation

A public naming contest was held in June and the winning name that was chosen is Generations Playground, submitted by South Surrey’s Marilyn Fransen.

“Right away I thought of the concept of all generations utilizing the playground together,” Marilyn said. “And then I thought of the energy that will be generated there and knew Generations Playground would be perfect.”

The $900,000 project has been funded with $225,000 coming from the City of White Rock and the remaining $675,000 being raised by Peace Arch Hospital Foundation including a $10,000 donation from The White Rock Firefighters Charity Association, who, led by firefighter Evan Bird and his mother Myra Merkal, have been fundraising for their own all-abilities playground at East Beach for many years.

We are still raising funds for this ground-breaking playground. Visit our Generations Playground Project page on our website or click here to DONATE.
