WHITE ROCK, B.C. – For the first time since 2018, the Peninsula’s most-anticipated summer fundraiser, Picnic on the Pier, returned to White Rock on Thursday, August 4, raising more than $100,000 for Peace Arch Hospital. More than 500 guests gathered to sip sparkling wine and enjoy a gourmet picnic while watching the sun set over the Pacific at this spectacular fundraising event.

“After damage to the pier during a 2018 storm took the event to Ocean Park in 2019, and a two-year postponement due to the pandemic, it was wonderful to be back on the iconic pier,” says Stephanie Beck, Peace Arch Hospital Foundation’s Executive Director. “We are so grateful for Landmark’s generosity and commitment to this special fundraiser and also for the community’s support and enthusiasm, year after year.”

Sponsored by Landmark Premiere Properties and its Foster Martin development, the event, now in its fifth year, raised more than $100,000 towards critically needed medical imaging equipment. In total, more than $300,000 has been raised for Peace Arch Hospital since 2016.

Guests dined on a gourmet picnic dinner of Mediterranean-inspired fare catered by the Joseph Richard Group’s Blank Canvas Catering and CBC’s Fred Lee was back again as master of ceremonies.

“Like our partners at the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation we look forward to this special evening all year,” says Ray Chen, President and Managing Partner of Landmark Premiere Properties. “We were thrilled to bring this annual fundraising evening, that has become a summer fixture, back to the pier to celebrate our local hospital and the great work they do for White Rock and Surrey. We’re already looking forward to 2023.”

Picnic on the Pier is slated to return to White Rock’s waterfront in August 2023.
