Peace Arch Hospital Foundation Projects: 2026 Report to Donors

2026 Report to Donors

To our generous supporters

Patients and families at Peace Arch Hospital receive care, comfort, and hope when they need it most, all because of donations made by community members like you over the last year.

Your support is transforming healthcare close to home, and we are delighted to share the 2026 Report to Donors in its new format.

This report showcases the monumental impact your gifts have made to our community in 2025. Throughout this booklet, you’ll see a full reporting of our 2025-2026 financials along with a listing of our 2025 Ambassadors Circle members.

Donors in the Ambassadors Circle give at least $25,000 in donations to our Foundation each year, and we are so grateful for their philanthropic leadership that creates positive change in our community. You’ll also read updates on our Healthy Community initiatives, medical equipment purchases, and how we progressed on several capital campaigns in 2025. Your generosity is shaping the future of care at our hospital, and for that we are deeply appreciative.

If you’d like further information about what’s ahead for Peace Arch Hospital + Community Health Foundation, we’d be happy to set up a meeting to share more. Wishing you good health and joy in the coming year.

Thank you for being an essential part of our passionate community.

I can have all of these ideas, but without the support of Peace Arch Hospital + Community Health Foundation, many of them would never get off the ground. For our Sleep Hygiene initiative, their support is helping improve comfort, sleep, and healing for patients in our Emergency Department every day. I'm incredibly grateful for our partnership that helps turn good ideas into better care for our patients.

Equipping Our Teams for Better Care

Thanks to donor support, Peace Arch Hospital’s medical teams are using new equipment to save lives, improve patient care, and support better outcomes across the hospital. Some of these pieces of equipment were made possible by gifts to our Capital Equipment fund from businesses, individual donors, and you. Thank you.

Hematology Analyzer – $120,000

Quickly and accurately analyzes blood samples, giving physicians detailed results to assess a patient’s health and guide treatment decisions.

Need: Clinical Lab

Colonoscopes – $45,000 each

Six new state-of-the-art colonoscopes help physicians examine the colon more accurately for polyps, cancer, and other abnormalities. (Adult x 4; Paediatric x 2)

Surgical Outpatient

Automatic CPR Machine – $20,000

Provides consistent, high-quality chest compressions during cardiac arrest, allowing medical staff to focus on other life-saving care. Funded through donations to our Holiday Direct Mail campaign.

Emergency Department

Bladder Scanner – $18,000

A non-invasive handheld ultrasound device that measures bladder volume in real time, helping guide treatment while reducing unnecessary catheter use and infection risk.

Medical Department

Airvo – $9,700 (7 funded!)

Delivers warm, humidified oxygen at high flow rates to support patients with respiratory distress, improve oxygenation, and reduce the need for more invasive ventilation.

Special thanks to TB Vets Charitable Organization for helping us secure six of these seven vital machines!

Respiratory Therapy

NeuroGym Lift – $7,000

Supports mobility and strength training through controlled sit-to-stand movements, helping patients improve balance, coordination, and independence.

A New Production Kitchen Arrives This Year

We exceeded our $5 million goal for the Healing Starts Here campaign, raising a total of $5.5 million! Our plan to build a new production kitchen and upgrade food services infrastructure at Peace Arch Hospital was an incredible success. We are excited for our Red Seal chefs and kitchen teams to begin rolling out fresh meals for patients in our new kitchen early next year!

The cafeteria is still undergoing construction and is projected to open in early 2027.

This project redefined hospital food. Not only is Peace Arch Hospital now offering delicious and nutritious meals, but the new Choice Dining program will begin in early 2027 as well. This will allow patients to choose their meals from a rotating menu of options on their own schedule. There will also be a new online ordering app where patients’ family members can place orders from afar for their loved ones.

The new kitchen would not have been possible without the generous support of our donors. We owe a special thank you to Ed and Johanna Kampschuur, who donated $2 million to this campaign. The Kampschuurs understand how important nutritional food is to maintain an excellent quality of life, as evidenced by their commitment to eating a healthy diet. The development of this new production kitchen is important to them because both have experienced the food from the old retherm kitchen. They have also seen friends refuse retherm food at the hospital because of how unappealing it was.

Kitchen Construction Image August 2026

The kitchen has recently welcomed several new pieces of commercial-grade cooking equipment, including a high-capacity tilt skillet, steam kettle, blast chiller, and advanced cooking systems. These additions will allow our Red Seal chefs to prepare fresher, made-from-scratch meals with ease while expanding healthcare menu options in the coming months.

New Kitchen Equipment

Blast Chiller

Rapidly reduces food temperatures to safe levels, ensuring food safety, preserving product quality, and improving overall kitchen efficiency by accelerating the cooling process.

iVario Tilt Skillet

A versatile multi-function cooking system capable of braising, stewing, searing, sautéing, and boiling. This equipment enables the production of large-volume batches while maintaining exceptional food quality and consistency.

Merrychef

A fast and efficient high-speed cooking unit ideal for preparing small-batch items such as sandwiches, pasta dishes, and other made-to-order menu selections. Its ease of operation supports enhanced patient choice and timely meal service.

Steam Kettle

Designed for the efficient preparation of soups, stocks, sauces, and signature bone broth. It provides consistent heating and high-volume production capabilities.

Vector Alto-Shaam

A multi-chamber cooking system that delivers exceptional flexibility for medium-sized batch production. It allows multiple menu components for full-course meals to be cooked simultaneously, ensuring quality, consistency, and efficient service delivery

New Projects Started in 2025

Thanks to donor support, PAHCHF was able to move several important community and hospital projects forward this year.

Generations Splash Pad

White Rock’s Generations Playground opened in 2018 with support from the City of White Rock, the White Rock Firefighters Charity Association, and donors from our supportive community. In 2025, we leveled up the playground and added a new splash pad for community members of all ages and abilities to enjoy! The Denis and Yvonne Blakely Trust made a generous estate gift of $100,000 to our Healthy Community Grant Program, which allowed our Foundation to fund this splash pad at Generations Playground.

ICU + Cardiac Monitoring Unit

This year, we embarked on a journey to raise $35 million for a major renovation at Peace Arch Hospital: a state-of-the-art integrated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Cardiac Monitoring Unit. Construction is expected to be completed in 2028. To make room for this critical upgrade, the 4th floor of the hospital will be completely renovated and rebuilt. The medical unit previously occupying this floor (opposite the ICU) was moved to a new floor and modernized to meet infection control standards and optimize the space for our medical staff to care for patients.

The expanded and integrated ICU and Cardiac Monitoring Unit will properly provide the level of infection control, advanced nursing, and critical care that is essential to ensure the safety, recovery, and well-being of the patients who rely on Peace Arch Hospital every day. It will also feature private rooms for all ICU and Cardiac Monitoring patients, complete with windows, glass doors, space for families, and even an ensuite washroom!

Foundry South Surrey–White Rock

In October 2025, PAHCHF announced that we are working with SOURCES to open up a Foundry location right down the street from the hospital. We have committed $2 million of funding to this $6.45 million project, with SOURCES and the government funding the additional money. Foundry BC’s model is to improve access to integrated wellness care for youth ages 12 to 24. Each Foundry centre brings health, wellness, and social services together, giving youth a “one-stop shop” in our community when they need it most. There are currently 17 Foundry locations across BC, with more in the works to open soon.

Each Foundry centre works with local organizations to help provide mental health supports, peer support, social services, substance use prevention, and physical healthcare. Physicians, mental health workers, peer support workers and more are always present at the site to give youth the tools they need in a welcoming, stigma-free environment.

We expect Foundry South Surrey-White Rock to open in late 2027.
