Picnic on the Pier raises $65,000+ for Peace Arch Hospital Foundation

Friday, August 10, 2018

More than 450 guests gathered at the iconic White Rock Pier last night for a dazzling long table dinner in support of Peace Arch Hospital Foundation’s new All Abilities and All Ages Playground.

Sponsored by Landmark Premiere Properties, the event, now in its third year, raised $65,050 towards the playground opening next month.

“When Landmark Premiere Properties suggested this fundraiser to us two years ago, we couldn’t have predicted what a special and spectacular event it would become, said Geoff Funke, Peace Arch Hospital Foundation’s board chair. “Our deepest appreciation goes out to Landmark for proposing the idea and especially for choosing Peace Arch Hospital Foundation as the beneficiary.”

Guests dined on a gourmet picnic dinner of seafood, beef carpaccio, salads and desserts catered by the Joseph Richard Group’s Blank Canvas Catering and CBC’s Fred Lee was back again as master of ceremonies.

“When we first came to White Rock, we decided from the beginning that we wanted to make a long-term commitment to the community,” said Ray Chen, President and Managing Partner of Landmark Premiere Properties. “Picnic on the Pier has become an important annual event, and we couldn’t ask for a better partner than Peace Arch Hospital Foundation. The support for this unique fundraiser continues to grow and reinforces just how much the entire community counts on our local hospital.”

Now an annual event, Picnic on the Pier will return to White Rock in August 2019.
