It’s Giving Day at Peace Arch Hospital Foundation!

Thursday, August 24, 2017

You may have heard of Giving Tuesday, a national giving day that celebrates the charities in our country that are making an impact with donor dollars. We’re changing things up at Peace Arch Hospital by establishing our very own Giving Day to coincide with the hospital’s anniversary on August 24.

Back in 1954, Peace Arch Hospital opened its doors after years of planning, fundraising and whole lot of blood, sweat and tears by this community to make health care available where it was needed the most – right here at home.

Giving seems to come naturally to our warm-hearted and generous community. From the donation by Amy Weatherby of the 5.5 acre parcel of land that Peace Arch now sits on, to the caring women who founded the White Rock Women’s Auxiliary in 1948 to kick-start the fundraising that would bring their dream for a local hospital to reality, this community has always rallied together to effect change for the benefit of everyone.

Today is no different. With your help we have raised more than $110 million for hospital and community health enhancements, including most recently $15 million to expand and renovate our crowded and outdated emergency department; we invest up to $1 million a year in critically-needed medical equipment so that our team of physicians, nurses, technicians and specialists have the very best tools possible to get our patients home faster.

On this inaugural Giving Day at Peace Arch Hospital, we are raising funds for our new hospice residence being built across the street from Peace Arch, so that when our loved ones have reached the end of their lives, they will be surrounded by family and cared for in a beautiful and calm environment devoted to ensuring each final moment is as gratifying as it can be.

Every dollar makes a difference! Let’s continue the community’s tradition of giving back and make this Giving Day truly transformative.
