Honouring Extraordinary Friends at Peace Arch Hospital

Thursday, October 02, 2014

Peace Arch Hospital & Community Health Foundation honoured one family, three individuals and one organization at its annual Friends of the Foundation celebration held October 1, 2014. Now in its sixth year, the event was held at Morgan Creek Golf Club and recognized the honourees for their extraordinary contributions to the health and wellness of the community with a special Friends of the Foundation award.

More than 100 people, all leaders through their giving, support and commitment to the Foundation, attended the celebration.

This year’s award recipients included:

  • The Cameron Family, who are long-time supporters of the Foundation and whose contributions and generosity have made a real and lasting impact at Peace Arch Hospital.
  • Dave Lee, whose work within the financial industry at ScotiaMcLeod has been a tremendous support to the Foundation. Dave sits on the Foundation’s planned giving committee and has partnered with the Foundation on more than a dozen events with local seniors, sharing his knowledge on estate planning and charitable giving.
  • Jodi-rae Kortje, a registered nurse who manages the ER at Peace Arch Hospital and has been a tireless supporter of the Foundation’s fundraising events, speaking engagements and hospital tours, providing insight and knowledge to many donors.
  • Allan Johanson, who has been a volunteer at the Foundation for eight years and has become an invaluable member of the team, serving on the Gala and Great Pumpkin Run Walk committees along with helping out at the office.
  • White Rock Optometry, who was recognized with a Community Partnership Award, for their extraordinary fundraising, matching every dollar their patients donate and participating yearly in the Great Pumpkin Run Walk.

Many thanks to all who attended and especially to our award winners this year for their passion and dedication to Peace Arch Hospital.
