11th Annual REMAX Colonial Pacific Great Pumpkin Run Walk raises $90,000+ for a Community Playground

Monday, November 20, 2017

Under sunny skies that broke through the clouds just before the race got underway, the 11th rendition of the Great Pumpkin Run Walk hit White Rock’s Marine Drive on October 22. More than $90,000 was raised to support a new all abilities and all ages playground for Ruth Johnson Park next to Centennial Arena, including a generous $10,000 donation from the White Rock Firefighters!

New this year was the Peace Arch Toyota Haunted House complete with a ‘Hogwarts’ section for small children and the more scary ‘Elm Street’ for teens and adults. Rounding out the morning of fun and philanthropy was the popular Creative Kids Zone, pancake breakfast and lively fairgrounds.

“The collective spirit of philanthropy was palpable as 1,000 people came together to help us fund a brand new outdoor green space designed to get people off their couches and be active and healthy.” - Stephanie Beck, Executive Director
